Dad & I in front of the Clavinova that they disassembled & drove out to KC for me. I am so excited to have a piano to play again, and Dave even puttered around a little on it this week, trying to figure out a lovely piano instrumental by the Smashing Pumpkins. (Yes, seriously, those Smashing Pumpkins!)

It was "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", the lead track off the album of the same name. Not my favorite Pumpkins album; in fact, it's the point at which I started to lose interest in the band. But it's got a terrific opening combo (Mellon Collie/Tonight, Tonight), and a few other songs I like (Muzzle has always been a favorite).
Regardless, it's probably an overstatement to say I was "figuring out" the song. I was hunting and pecking for individual notes -- chords are more coordination than my hands and brain are capable of!
